Simon and Lucy Ann Brewster were married by
Jefferson Hazelton, Justice of the Peace, Fowler,
New York in her parents home Truelove and Mary
Brewster. Simon served in the Civil War, Joining on
his wedding day 23 August 1863 to 31July 1865 and
was honorably discharge at Fort Monroe, Virginia.
Simon was injured during the war when his horse
fell on him. He went home to Edwards, New York and
got his wife and son and moved to Franklin, Pa.
where he and his wife had 4 more sons. During this
time Simon was a Farmer and a Carpenter in West
Virginia. From there they moved south to Webster
Springs, West Virginia. He stayed between Webster
Springs, and Norfolk, Virginia until he entered the
Old Soldiers Home at Hampton, Virginia. He died
there and was buried there with the other military
personnel. There is a record of a second marriage
between Simon and a Mrs. Rebecca Hamrick in 1902,
place Webster Springs, West Virginia. They were
married by a minister of the Gospel, Ae. Odell on
May 30, 1902. No further record can be found of the
second Mrs. Bancroft.
