Jonathan of Danvers and Salem, Mass., was a
shopkeeper. Jonathan bought a house and land in
that part of Salem now Peabody on the south side of
Main Street, and west of Strongwater Brook. His
will, dated 7 December 1769, was proved 16 July
1784. His widow continued the business, at least
until 1789. (See Mrs. Parsons' notes on the
